Winch Training Courses Lantra Health and Safety CertificateH&S in Winching Operations:

One Day Course – Lantra-Awards Certified.

This course can be tailored either as a solely industrial Winch Operator training course, or as Winching and Recovery training for professional 4×4 drivers.

For some, the winch is the ultimate off-road accessory, for others it is an essential part of their daily workplace. For everyone there is the potential for serious injury if not used correctly.

Winches are versatile powerful and effective tools. Our training course will show you how to operate a variety of winches in different situations as safely as possible. With experience of industrial winches mounted on vehicles as diverse as battleships to 4x4s, as well as professional experience of hand-winches, our trainers probably know more about the mechanics, the safest techniques and industry best practice than most people will ever need, but there are times when this knowledge pays off.

LOLER and PUWER Compliant Winch Operator Training

Throughout the course you will use a variety of equipment including:

Hydraulic and Electric vehicle winches
Tirfor / Jetrope type winches
Steel wire and Plasma (HDPE) ropes
Ground anchors
Pulley blocks

4x4 Training Courses with Lantra-Awards CertificationYou will learn how to check your winch and maintain it, select the appropriate equipment for the job and rig it correctly. Successful completion of the course and assessment will result in award of a LANTRA Winch certificate (the Lantra-Award in Health and Safety in Winching Operations) – a nationally recognised safety training qualification. Lantra-Awards are an HSE Approved Training Body and their qualifications are recommended for professional operators.

Safety First:

We only use lifting rated and CE certified equipment on our courses and all our vehicles are fitted with emergency cut outs for the winches. We strongly recommend you do likewise. The provision of quality equipment, its correct maintenance and use will do more for your safety than anything else. Beware of winch accessory kits which have non-certified equipment. Gloves supplied are also often of the incorrect type for handling wire rope.

Although this course is normally delivered at our training centre it can be delivered nationwide subject to meeting certain requirements.
